The Statox 560 MUX Communicator – the money-saving machine
The Statox 560 tests itself with the gas to be measured. This self-test can be triggered manually or activated automatically every 24 hours. The measuring head therefore contains very detailed information about the status of the sensor. Of course, you would also like to have this information available in the control room, but cables cost money!

In order to transmit all the status signals and supply the measuring head with enough power for operation, you would actually need a very high-quality ten-core cable. The user does not want to spend money on this. They want to get by with as few wires as possible, ideally using the two-wire cable already installed for the previous model. This is exactly where the Statox 560 MUX Communicator comes in. It consists of two components: One small transmitting unit on site, integrated into a junction box, and one in the control room.
The device on site encodes the digital status signals and sets the supply voltage to 24 V DC. The device in the control centre decodes the status signals and if required raises the supply voltage slightly so that enough energy will be supplied to the sensor head. No question, this unit is safe to operate in classified areas. It complies with the requirenments of SIL 2 standard. As you have all information about the condition of the sensor available, you can expand the the proof test and calibration intervals. This will save time and money.
